  • Hye-Soon Lee is a Professor (2002~ ) of Hanyang University, a Head of the Center for Precision Medicine of Rheumatic Diseases, Soul, Korea and a Head of Division of Rheumatology, Guri Hospital, Guri, Korea. Her research theme is genetic studies of rheumatic diseases, mainly systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, which has started from gene level to transcriptomics level recently. The goal of the research is the development of new biomarkers and therapeutic targets that could be useful in clinics in order to solve the clinical unmet needs in the field of rheumatology. These efforts lead us to precision medicine of rheumatic diseases in future. To do this, she has been involved the analysis of big data of clinical and genetics information from rheumatic disease patient cohorts.

Professor Lee acquired her MD in 1992 from the Hanyang University, and a PhD in 2004 from Korea University, Seoul, Korea. She worked as a rheumatology clinical and research fellow in the Hanyang University from 1999 to 2001, and a visiting scientist in the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, NY, USA, from 2005 to 2007.
